NYC house fire takes life of woman, 59, in Bayswater, Queens

A woman died Saturday after flames ripped through her home on a leafy street of single-family homes in Queens, police said.

The blaze erupted on the third floor of the three-story home on Dickens St. near Beatrice Court in Bayswater at about 7:33 p.m., drawing roughly 60 firefighters to the scene, cops and FDNY officials said.

Firefighters pulled the 59-year-old woman from the house with critical injuries, police said.

Medics rushed the injured woman to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, but she could not be saved.

Her identity was not immediately released as authorities worked to track down her relatives.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 8:24 p.m. Fire marshals were still investigating what sparked the fire on Saturday night.

Bayswater borders Far Rockaway and Nassau County, across Jamaica Bay from Kennedy Airport.
