No. 6 UC Davis hosts Northern Colorado Saturday, looking to extend its four-game winning streak, stay unbeaten in conference, and continue series dominance.
DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis Aggies will travel to Northern Colorado this Saturday for a noon kickoff against the Bears in another Big Sky conference game.
Game Preview
UC Davis will take the field for the 14th game with Northern Colorado, aiming to extend its winning momentum after a week off.
The Aggies have been red-hot, carrying a four-game winning streak into the contest.
Northern Colorado, though holding a 3-4 record, has shown it can compete with top teams, including a road victory over No. 13 Idaho.
Last week’s loss to Sacramento State demonstrated the Bears’ resilience, as they kept the game close on enemy turf.
The Aggies have dominated this series in recent years, winning the last five matchups. A victory this week would set a new series mark with six straight wins and keep UC Davis unbeaten in Big Sky play with a 4-0 record for the second year in a row.
Northern Colorado quarterback Eric Gibson Jr. has been one of the top performers in the nation and the Big Sky this season.
He ranks ninth nationally in passing yards per game with an average of 259.7, fourth in the conference in completion rate at 65.6%, and 19th nationally in total offense, generating 265.3 yards per game.
Additionally, head coach Tim Plough has a perfect record coming off bye weeks, and a win here would improve that to 3-0, highlighting the team’s ability to maintain focus and energy after a midseason break.
With conference positioning and historical streaks on the line, Saturday’s showdown promises to be a hard-fought contest.
UC Davis Aggie linebacker Rex Connors made history during the Aggies’ game at Washington, recording eight total tackles to push his career mark to 291.
During UC Davis’ bye week, the FCS Committee released its first top-10 ranking of the season, slotting the Aggies at sixth.
If the season ended today, UC Davis would earn a first-round bye and host a second-round playoff game for the second consecutive year.
Freshman quarterback Caden Pinnick also earned national recognition, landing on the 2025 Jerry Rice Award Watch List, which highlights the top 22 freshmen in FCS football.
