(FOX40.COM) — Parking at the Sacramento International Airport may get a little bit easier as Sacramento County announced the approval of a new parking structure as part of the airport’s $1.3 billion upgrade.

The planned Terminal B garage will add 5,500 parking spaces at the airport for $390 million, according to the county.

“Increasing close-in garage parking capacity is the number one opportunity we have to improve the guest experience at SMF,” said Cindy Nichol, Director of Sacramento County Department of Airports. “By partnering with Otto Construction, our team is set to deliver a parking garage that is both beautiful and functional.”

Otto Construction, a Sacramento-based company, was awarded the project contract. This will be the firm’s second parking garage project at SMF as they also constructed the Terminal A garage in 2004.

Along with adding enclosed parking spaces there is also the possibility for it to host electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and/or solar panels.

Other updates and additions listed in the $1.3 billion airport project include:
• Terminal expansion with additional gates at terminals A and B
• New baggage claim carousel
• Additional ticket counters
• New pedestrian walkway
