CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A new study has found that Massachusetts drivers have some of the lowest rates of seat belt use in the country.

The research from injury lawyers Bader Scott was based off of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data from 2015 through 2022.

Massachusetts was found to have the second lowest average rate of seat belt use during this time at just over 77%, New Hampshire came in at number one, with an average rate of just over 72%.

Massachusetts does not have a primary seat belt law, but you can get ticketed for not wearing a seat belt if you’re pulled over for something else.
