Nevada County avalanche confirmed, response teams on scene

NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. — An avalanche has been confirmed in Nevada County, prompting a large-scale response from multiple emergency agencies, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials said approximately 45 personnel are currently on scene, including deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff’s Search and Rescue teams, Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue, and Truckee Fire. The incident remains active, and officials have released limited details as rescue efforts continue.

Authorities reported that the initial 911 call was transferred from Washoe County and was received at 2:19 p.m. on Monday.

It is not yet clear whether there are any injuries or individuals trapped as the scene remains active.
