Melissa Naeder, a senior director at Cushman & Wakefield, earned a top award at the annual meeting of the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island on Monday.

Naeder, an 18-year veteran of the Long Island real estate industry, co-founded the CIBS W committee to support, mentor and promote female professionals. She was presented with the organization’s 2023 Presidents Award in recognition of her contributions in fortifying CIBS and advancing the commercial real estate sector on Long Island.

“Melissa is a true advocate for our industry, and her contributions to our organization have been substantial,” CIBS Co-President Ted Stratigos, principal and managing director at Avision Young, said in a written statement. “Through her leadership and role as the chair of the CIBS W committee, our organization has expanded its leadership role within the industry and the region.”

The event held at The Paramount in Huntington combined CIBS’ annual meeting with its holiday party. CIBS also recognized developer G2D Group with its Associate Sponsor of the Year award. The CIBS Rising Star award was presented to Stephen Cadorette of Cushman & Wakefield and Steve Sessa of Colliers.

“CIBS is proud to continue our tradition of celebrating excellence and innovation within the Long Island commercial real estate community,” Co-President David Pennetta and Cushman & Wakefield’s executive managing director, said in the statement. “These awards not only recognize outstanding achievements but also inspire the industry’s future leaders.”

CIBS also took time to honor and remember five of its members who passed away this year, including Dom D’Angelo, Michelle Zere, Doug Furer, Jillian Ramirez, and Jarrett Pagano.
