Even before the temperature changed, I decided to plan for sweater weather. Despite owning a collection of hoodies and cardigans, my closet appeared to be lacking chunky knits, which I couldn’t wait to throw on with everything from leggings to cute denim skirts. I wanted something oversized but not too bulky, maybe a half-zip design or one with a collar. But finding a quality sweater within my budget proved to be tough. I couldn’t afford to shell out hundreds on a single item, but I also wanted something that would last and not get destroyed in the washing machine.

At one point, I made my way to my local mall, hoping to try on some stuff at Zara or H&M. But as I passed Old Navy, I felt an urge to go in. I always knew the store had cute clothes (I’m a big fan of their petite sizes), but their fall items seemed especially dreamy — especially the selection of sweaters displayed in the window. Plus, the price tags were right in line with what I wanted to spend. There were tons of knits under $55, and it didn’t take me long to find at least two options I wanted to buy.

Despite only making these purchases recently, I’ve worn and washed these sweaters multiple times over. Whenever I throw them on in the morning, I get compliments from strangers who can’t believe they’re from Old Navy. They could easily be mistaken for expensive luxury items, and the best part is, I didn’t have to spend a ton to get the look.

Right now, there are plenty of deals to be had on Old Navy’s site, and whether you’re looking for stripes, collars, or an assortment of colors, you’ll likely find something to suit your aesthetic. Here are a few of my favorites.

1/2-Zip Shaker-Stitch Pullover for Women

The ’90s trend is still going strong when it comes to clothing, which is probably why I suddenly found myself wanting a half-zip sweater. This option comes in a variety of colors, including neutral gray and black, but I’m personally feeling this seasonal shade of pumpkin spice.

Mock-Neck Cropped Sweater for Women

If you told me you paid $300 for this striped design, I’d believe you. The cool combination of bright and darker stripes feels expensive to me, and I could easily envision this being styled with wide-leg trousers and heeled boots for a cute yet cozy look.

If I’m being totally honest, I’m wearing this exact sweater as I type. It’s perfect for lounging around the house, paired with leggings and chunky socks, but should plans arise, simply throw on some jeans to achieve that no-fuss, preppy vibe.

Full-Zip Cardigan Sweater for Women

Technically this one’s a cardigan, but I’d like to consider it a happy medium. Sure, you can throw it over any top and leave it open, but if it’s especially chilly outside, you can zip it fully for extra warmth.

SoSoft Off-the-Shoulder Sweater for Women

Hailey Bieber recently wore a similar off-the-shoulder design in a video for Vogue France. The only difference? Her sweater was from Alaïa and will cost you $1,270. This soft alternative still nails that sleek, somewhat balletcore look and is a bit more budget-friendly.
