PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two people who died during an incident at a 7-Eleven store in Vancouver on Friday have been identified.
On October 17, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office initially reported an apparent murder-suicide that happened at the convenience store in Hazel Dell after responding deputies found two people with gunshot wounds. Both individuals were taken to the hospital, where they were declared dead.
On Thursday, the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office released information in the case, naming the two deceased people involved.
Pardeep Kumar, 37, of Vancouver, died from a gunshot wound to the head and was shot by another person in a homicide, the medical examiner said.
Ryan Taylor, 26, of Vancouver, also died from a gunshot wound to the head by suicide after using a handgun on himself, officials said.
The medical examiner’s report did not make it explicitly clear whether or not Taylor is suspected by law enforcement of killing Kumar.
KOIN 6 News reached out to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for clarification and if they could share any other new details about the case. This story will be updated if we hear back.
When the shooting initially happened in the early evening last Friday, the sheriff’s office said at the time that the “deceased victim was an employee at the store and had no apparent connection with the deceased suspect” and that it was being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.
