MPD charge man for deadly Union Station shooting after 7-month search

WASHINGTON — Closing a seven-month search, the Metropolitan Police Department arrested the man investigators believe shot and killed an 18-year-old inside Union Station

Wednesday, MPD officers arrested Faizon Mason, 23, for the shooting, charging him with second-degree murder while armed. When announcing their arrest, MPD did not give specifics as to how they 

Back in February, MPD Chief Pamela Smith said that McDaniel and the shooter had walked to the bus depot together when McDaniel tried to take something from the other man. McDaniel ran away once Mason reportedly began shooting at him. Amtrak Police reportedly could hear the gunfire and were the first to respond to the shooting.  

Investigators released surveillance footage the next day, asking for the public’s help.

Officers did not give information Thursday as to how they manage to track down Mason but noted that DC Superior Court had granted MPD a warrant to arrest the alleged shooter.
