Boy, 16, driving e-bike killed in Arlington Heights crash

Arlington Heights police said a 16-year-old boy from Mount Prospect died after a crash involving an electric bike and a pickup truck Monday.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) — A 16-year-old boy from Mount Prospect died after a crash involving an electric bike and a pickup truck in Arlington Heights Monday night, police said.

The crash occurred at about 7:28 p.m. at the intersection of South Reuter Drive and West Grove Street.

Arlington Heights police said the teen was riding at a high speed and failed to stop at a posted sign and hit the rear door of a Ford F-150. The boy was transported to Lutheran General Hospital, where he later died, police said.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.
