Who doesn’t love a good charcuterie board? Not only does it have something for everyone — cheese, meats, jams, fruits, you name it — but it can be consumed almost anywhere. It makes a great snack, whether you’re at the beach, a picnic, a party, or your living room.

But if you’re putting one together, you might want to stop and take a closer look at where your meat is coming from because the USDA has announced a recall of several charcuterie-style meats.

Daniele International LLC has recalled almost 53,000 pounds of ready-to-eat sausage products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.

The recall includes several different sausage products made by American sausage makers. The products were produced from May 23, 2022, through November 25, 2022, and shipped to retail locations nationwide from December 23, 2022, through January 17, 2023. The USDA site has a list of the specific products with accompanying photos that are subject to recall.

The FSIS discovered the problem during an inspection where Listeria was found. Thankfully, there are no reports of anyone consuming the affected products, but there is concern that some of it may already be in consumers’ homes. So, double-check your fridge and if you come across any items that match the ones on the list, the FSIS urges you to throw away the products or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

If you have any questions regarding the recall, you can contact Daniele International LLC at 401-568-6228 or [email protected].

Once you check (and double-check) your charcuterie meats to make sure they aren’t affected, you can use this guide to build an Instagram-worthy charcuterie board and even build your own charcuterie stand for $1.
