Curling irons sold online and nationwide at several retailers including Ulta, Sephora and Nordstrom, have been recalled.
WASHINGTON — Hundreds of thousands of curling irons have been recalled due to a burn hazard.
J & D Brush said it was recalling some Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Irons because the barrel can snap off, posing a burn hazard.
The recall covers around 357,000 units in the U.S., with an additional 3,000 sold in Canada.
According to the recall notice, the impacted units include model number LXT-CL-1.0 and a date code between 0722 and 1223. The model number can be found on the handle and the date code is engraved on the prongs of the iron plug. If the date code is outside that range or the iron shows a different model number, then it is not affected by this recall.
The recalled curling irons were sold online and in stores from August 2022 through July 2024 for about $165. The retailers included Amazon, Bioionic.com, Salon Centric, Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom and in salons and beauty supply stores nationwide.
If you have one of the recalled units, you should stop using it and go on Bio Ionic’s website to register for a free replacement. According to the recall notice, consumers will be asked to cut off the curling iron’s plug and return the plug to the recalling firm using a prepaid shipping label.
There have been 258 reports of the curling iron barrel detaching, including six minor burn injuries.
