Amplified in partnership with Amazon Music, the virtual show will feature performances from 2020’s Founders Award honoree Alice In Chains, as well as Duff McKagan (Guns n’ Roses), Ann Wilson, Nancy Wilson, Metallica, Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins), Dave Navarro, Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Korn, Krist Novoselic (Nirvana, Giants in the Trees), Dallas Green (City and Colour), Fishbone, Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Mad Season), Mastodon, and the debut musical performance of Lily Cornell Silver (daughter of Chris Cornell and Susan Silver) among many others who will put their own twist on some of Alice In Chains’ most iconic songs.

The event will also feature appearances by Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament and Mike McCready, Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar, Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave guitar player Tom Morello, Les Claypool, a very special appearance by Robert Downey Jr., and more (check out the full list in the graphic below!).

On top of sets from Alice In Chains and the previously listed tribute artists, Founders Award 2020 will feature songs from MoPOP Sound Off! participants whose final performances were cancelled due to the COVID-19 shutdown.

“Alice In Chains was a natural choice to receive the Founders Award,” says Alexis Lee, MoPOP Executive Director, “Their noteworthy musical and pop culture contributions are recognized by fans and the music industry alike. We are thrilled to welcome them to our museum and grateful that even in this ‘virtual’ year of 2020, that they will grace our stage.  We are proud to call them our hometown heroes even though we know we share them with the world. Inspiring future creators is central to what we do as an institution and we are so fortunate to be working with musicians who demonstrate what’s possible to the next generation.”

Like many arts organizations around the country, as a community supported nonprofit museum and in-person gathering space, MoPOP has been hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis. All proceeds raised through Founders Award will provide relief by allowing MoPOP to continue to serve its community, reach young people, and preserve shared pop culture history during this difficult time.
