Montgomery County police investigate a fatal shooting in Gaithersburg, where an adult woman was found early Sunday.
GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Gaithersburg.
Officers responded to the 9000 block of Centerway Road, near Goshen Road, around 2:42 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found an adult woman dead inside a townhouse, police said.
Neighbors said they were stunned to wake up and see police tape surrounding the community.
“A lot of shock. I’ve lived here my whole life, 25 years, and never have I seen our neighborhood shut down. It is new,” one resident told WUSA9.
He didn’t know the family in the townhouse where police were investigating, but they seemed like everybody else.
“It’s a very large family over there. We see them — it’s always hi, bye. We’re in a friendly area, so something like this isn’t normal,” the neighbor said.
Neighbors also told WUSA9 that children may live in the home and said they are concerned for their safety.
Police have not released the woman’s identity or any suspect information.
