Montgomery County police identify 18-year-old found shot to death in Gaithersburg

Montgomery County police seek public help after an 18-year-old was found shot dead in Gaithersburg.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County police have identified an 18-year-old who found shot to death Friday evening.

According to police, fire and rescue crews found the body of Taeyon Malachi Prather in a parking lot in the 23600 block of Rolling Fork Way after responding to a report of “a person down.”

After discovering the body, they contacted law enforcement.

After an autopsy, officials ruled the teenager’s death a homicide.

On Sunday, police said they did not have any suspect information to release.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the crime to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County.

Rewards for information leading to an arrest can range from $250 to $10,000.
