The primaries are basically a formality for this year’s gubernatorial contest, with GOP Gov. Tate Reeves only facing trivial competition and Democrat Brandon Presley running unopposed. Democrats think they have a shot in this ruby red state to knock off Reeves in November.
The biggest attraction on Tuesday comes in the undercard, where one-time Tea Party darling Chris McDaniel is trying to primary incumbent GOP Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann.
