Mikael Maglieri, owner of the legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill and Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA, has died at 73 years old. Maglieri‘s death was confirmed by Whisky A Go Go on social media, saying: “He Was The Best Person In The World. The Most Generous. The Most Loving. Just The Best Person In The World. Thank You, Mikeal, For Everything. I Can’t Even Begin To Tell You How Much You’re Going To Be Missed.”

We wish Maglieri‘s friends and family all the best at time time. Maglieri was the son of Mario Maglieri, who was the original owner of both the legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill and Whisky A Go Go. Mario Maglieri died in May 2017 at 93 years old.

As for both establishments, what is there to say without going into a novel’s worth of material? The Rainbow Bar & Grill and Whisky A Go Go were crucial in the development of ’80s hair metal, and were regular haunts for countless rock stars over the years. Check out the hour-long documentary on the Rainbow Bar & Grill below, which of course kicks off with bar regular (and local) Lemmy.
