NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The body of missing Missouri student Riley Strain has been found in the Cumberland River, the Metro Nashville Police Department reported

According to police, his body was found in the river approximately eight miles from downtown Nashville near 61st Avenue. The Nashville Fire Department recovered the body, and investigators believe no foul play was involved in his death at this time.

According to MNPD, workers who were on the river discovered Strain’s body. Police said he was wearing the same clothes he was last seen in.

The discovery came two weeks after Strain disappeared in downtown Nashville. He has been missing since March 8.

“To the family, my heart and prayers go out to you all for this very unfortunate and tragic incident. I also want to say thank you to the Nashville community for the outpouring of support in trying to locate Mr. Strain,” Metro Nashville Police Department Chief John Drake said.

The Mizzou student was in Nashville for a fraternity trip and disappeared after getting kicked out of Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge Bar on March 8. Strain’s friends said they lost sight of him that night after he left the bar. They said they tried calling him multiple times to no avail.

“Our records show he purchased and was served one alcoholic drink and two waters,” the bar said. “At 9:35 p.m., our security team made a decision based on our conduct standards to escort him from the venue through out Broadway exit at the front of our building.”

After strain was reported missing, security videos surfaced showing him stumbling near North Capitol through 1st Avenue North to Gay Street, which was located near the riverfront.

Search teams were unable to find any sign of Strain until his bank card was found along the Cumberland River on Saturday, March 16.
