Melrose Police search for suspects after cemetery vandalized

MELROSE, Mass. (WWLP) – Police in Melrose are searching for a possible suspect after finding fencing knocked in and charred from a fire at a cemetery.

According to the Melrose Police Department, officers found the damage last Tuesday at approximately 2:00 p.m. at Workmen’s Circle Cemetery. The fence had been damaged and a headstone had also been knocked over.

It was reported that the fence was intact and that the headstone was upright on Sunday evening before the groundskeeper left.

Melrose Police are now investigating exactly what happened and are looking for whoever did it. If any member of the public has information or anyone who might have seen something suspicious in the area, contact Melrose Police at 781-979-4213.
