BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP)– Excessive high heat is expected between Tuesday afternoon and Friday evening this week and with that heat comes possibility of elevated air pollution.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has issued an air quality alert from elevated levels of ozone beginning 11 a.m. through 11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in five Massachusetts counties: eastern Hampden and Hampshire counties, southern Worcester County, and central Middlesex County, and Essex County.
Persons with heart or lung disease, such as asthma, older adults, children, teenagers, and people who are participating in outdoor activities should take more breaks, do less intense activities, follow asthma action plans, and keep quick relief medicine handy.
