Man with fake gun commandeers Queens MTA bus, goes on crazed joyride before crashing

A man with an imitation pistol commandeered an MTA bus in Queens Thursday, taking the bus on a crazed joyride before crashing into a pole, police sources said.

The gunman boarded a Q4 bus near 199th St. and Linden Blvd. in St. Albans about 7:30 a.m. and pulled his fake firearm on the driver, cops said.

The bus driver and about seven passengers ran off the bus — and the gunman jumped behind the wheel and sped off down Linden Blvd. He slammed into a light pole on 233rd St. in Cambria Heights, about a mile-and-a-half from where he got on.

The busjacker was taken into custody at the scene of the crash without incident. Cops said his gun turned out to be a fake.

Charges against the 44-year-old suspect were pending.
