ORANGE COUNTY, Fla — Police are conducting an investigation in downtown Orlando after police shot and killed an armed man early Friday.
Crime scene tape and a heavy police presence are in the Luminary Green Park area near 500 block of Chatham Avenue near Robinson Street.
According to officers, police were responding to a separate call downtown when a man, possibly homeless, charged at officers with a pair of scissors. After ordering the man to stop, officers fired, killing the man.
The man, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene.
Police said there are no larger threats to the area. No officers were injured.
Police are advising the public to avoid the Creative Village area near the scene.
