A man driving a U-Haul box truck was arrested on Monday after he drove onto sidewalks and hit at least three people in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, the police said.

The man driving the truck, whom the police had not identified as of Monday early afternoon, had been stopped by officers at around 10:50 a.m. He then tried to evade the officers, the police said, and struck pedestrians and one police vehicle as he fled.

He drove through Bay Ridge before he was arrested near Hamilton Avenue and Columbia Street, the police said.
