A man was stabbed multiple times and taken to a hospital, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Amar Gandhi.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing a sports bar employee in Sacramento County.

The stabbing happened in the 12000 block of Folsom Boulevard Thursday night, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Officers responded to reports of a stabbing around 11:15 p.m. at Mr. Tequila Sports Bar and Grill near Rancho Cordova.

Sheriff’s office spokesperson Amar Gandhi said a man went into the bar and tried to get an alcoholic beverage without money. He was turned away and Gandhi said he started following a waitress around when she went into an employee area. Another employee tried to intervene and was stabbed multiple times.

The man who was stabbed was taken to a hospital, according to Gandhi. Gandhi said the wounds were life-threatening and in a Friday morning update said the man was in stable condition and is expected to survive as of 6 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said 36-year-old Delance Jefferson was arrested on suspicion of stabbing the man. 

The stabbing is under investigation.
