According to police, the suspect attacked a woman in a Fairfield park, dragged her into a car and sped off.

RIO VISTA, Calif. — A man accused of attacking and kidnapping a woman was arrested in Rio Vista Thursday afternoon.

The arrest stems from a call Fairfield Police Department made to Rio Vista, alerting them that a domestic violence suspect was heading toward their city.

According to police, the suspect attacked a woman in a Fairfield park, dragged her into a car and sped off.

Police chased the suspect, who ultimately led them on a chase toward Rio Vista. The car was reported driving recklessly near Highway 12 and Highway 113. 

Rio Vista police aided officers in trying to catch the suspect as he came into town. He was ultimately stopped in front of St. Joseph Cemetery, where he surrendered without incident. A woman and a two-year-old child were also freed.

The man was arrested by Fairfield police and booked on suspicion of felony kidnapping, felony child endangerment, felony evading a peace officer and misdemeanor domestic violence.

No additional details from Rio Vista police were released.
