Loveland police 'shocked' after Subaru allegedly clocked at 100 mph

DENVER (KDVR) — The Loveland Police Department recapped its previous “long week and busy weekend,” highlighting an unexpected well-known vehicle brand that allegedly clocked nearly 100 miles per hour.

In a post on X on Monday, the police department said they had seen it all, listing some incidents in the community, including alleged fleeing suspects, burglaries, a juvenile arrested with a firearm and “more.”

However, the agency noted that one driver allegedly clocked nearly 100 mph, which came as a shock to the department, not just because of the speed but because of the vehicle the driver was in.

“And yes—believe it or not—a Subaru driver clocked nearly 100 mph. (We’re just as shocked as you that a Subaru could actually do that.),” said the Loveland agency.

This comes after the city of Loveland and the police department have made changes to enhance road safety within the past year.

In February, the department started issuing citations through mobile radar equipment to help slow down traffic in certain areas.

In March, the agency announced an additional traffic safety measure, a red light enforcement camera at the intersection of West 1st Street and South Taft Avenue.

In July, the city, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Transportation, changed the speed limit on U.S. 34 within the area from 55 mph to 50 mph. On the city’s website, it said the decision was from a study conducted in March, which recommended lowering the speed limit between “Denver Avenue and Rocky Mountain Avenue to improve safety and better reflect current roadway conditions.”

The department said its community is filled with “the best residents anywhere,” however, noting that “criminal activity never fully takes a break.”

“As we enter a new week, we stand ready to serve and protect,” said the department.
