Lodi man confesses to shooting amid an attempted murder investigation, police say

Lodi police arrested Vladimir Flores for attempted murder after he confessed to shooting a man who is now critically injured.

LODI, Calif. — The Lodi Police Department says a 27-year-old man from Lodi was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for attempted murder and weapons violations after admitting to shooting a man on Saturday night.

Police say Vladimir Flores admitted to shooting a 29-year-old man inside a nearby warehouse just before 10 p.m. in the 100 block of Houston Street. Officers were initially dispatched to the area after receiving a 911 hang-up call reporting the shooting.

Police say the man was taken to the hospital and remains in stable but critical condition.

As of writing, police say the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, but from their investigation, it appears Flores and the victim knew each other.

Following a search warrant at the warehouse and a vehicle on the property, a loaded rifle was found along with other evidence.
