JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) — Smithfield-Selma High School is back to normal operations after being put on lockdown earlier this morning.
The lockdown procedures were put in place due to a report of a weapon being on campus.
School officials and law enforcement investigated and found a student who had brought an airsoft BB gun through the school’s weapon detection system.
Again, the lockdown has been lifted and school is operating as normal.
The school said all students and staff were safe during the lockdown.
