What to Know
- Legendary Team USA alpine skier Lindsey Vonn crashed in her women’s downhill run. It was the 41-year-old’s first Olympic event since 2018 and it comes just over a week she suffered a torn ACL.
- Vonn was airlifted from the course in Cortina following her fall.
- The U.S. can secure a second straight Olympic title in the figure skating team event. Team USA holds a five-point lead over Japan entering the final three skates: pairs free, women’s free and men’s free. Amber Glenn makes her Olympic debut in the women’s free, while Ilia Malinin continues his first Games in the men’s free.
- In addition to alpine skiing and figure skating, medals will also be up for grabs in cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding, speed skating and luge.
- The first medals were awarded on Day 1 of the Games as five events were decided. Norway, Japan and host Italy tied for the early lead with three medals apiece, while Team USA is still seeking its first podium finish.
