List of 0% APR Credit Cards

Credit cards that offer 0% Intro APR can be quite useful when interest rates are high. We normally see these offers as a signup bonus on many consumer and small business credit cards.

The introductory APR can be for purchases or balance transfers, and usually for both. Depending on the credit card, you can sometimes get a 0% Intro APR for up to 21 months.

So what’s so great about these offers? These are basically interest-free, short-term loans. You can get a loan and then deposit that amount in a high-yield savings account or CD, and earn up 5% or more during that period. They can also be useful to consolidate high interest debt.

Sounds too good to be true, but that’s exactly how these offers work when interest rates are high. However, there are a few things to watch out for. Read some important tips below, and check out the full list of 0% APR credit cards

Tips

  • When choosing a 0% APR credit card, make sure to also look at ongoing card benefits such as earning structure or ongoing variable rate.
  • Most banks won’t let you transfer a balance from one of their cards to another. So apply for a card from a different issuer if you want to transfer a balance.
  • Always make the minimum monthly payments, and always plan to pay off the full balance before the promotional period expires.
  • Some credit card issuers will let you move credit from one card to another. You want to have as much credit available as possible on a card with 0% APR.
  • 0% APR often applies to balance transfers done in the first 45 or 60 days. Read the details.
  • You will often have to pay a balance transfer fee, which can be 3% or 5%. So make sure to include that in your calculations.
  • A high balance on personal cards will heavily affect your credit score. On the other hand, business card balances normally don’t.
  • Cards with 0% APR offers are often available to those with good credit, which typically means a FICO Score of 670+.

Guru’s Wrap-up

Credit cards with 0% introductory APR offers give customers an opportunity to get an interest-free, short-term loan. Then that loan can be used in the form of purchases, balance transfers or both. Sometimes we even see these offers for existing cards, such as Discover it.

These offers can be useful when interest rates are high, as you get a free loan and then invest it to earn 5% or more in interest. But they can also be useful for those who are struggling with debt, and can give you a hand on paying down that debt.
