Long Island Business News staff has won nine top journalism awards from both the Press Club of Long Island and the Fair Media Council in June. LIBN was also recognized as a Fair Media Council News Legacy, as the region’s only dedicated business-to-business publication celebrates its 70th year of public service.

At the Fair Media Council Folio awards ceremony at Gatsby on the Ocean at Jones Beach on June 23, LIBN Editor and Associate Publisher Joe Dowd won Best Commentary for “Fear can’t take a bite out of Long Island’s summer” and Best Column for “Birds, Bees & the Mated Pair of Lake Abanakee.”

Reporter David Winzelberg scored Folios in the Employment & Workforce category for “Workers Rise Up,” and in the Main Street News category for “Betting on Baldwin.”

the War & Protest Coverage category for “Solidarity with Ukraine.”

At the Press Club Long Island Awards at Fox Hollow in Woodbury on June 15, Dowd took home first place in the Column Narrative category for “Fear can’t take a bite out of Long Island’s summer” and in the History Narrative category for LIVING THE HISTORY: LIBN’S ‘war correspondent’ sends chilling message from the ‘battlefield.’”

Genn scored first place in the Neighborhood/Community Narrative category for “Hunger & Long Island.”

“It is a great honor to have garnered so much recognition from the judges of these two prestigious award committees and a credit to the staff at LIBN, who are tireless in their pursuit of news that impacts our readers,” Dowd said. “That work, the relentless pursuit of the truth on deadline, remains of paramount importance to not only the public, but to democracy itself.”
