LIBN honored at the 2022 Folio Awards


Long Island Business News scored multiple first-place awards at this year’s Fair Media Council Folio Awards.

The awards highlighted the best in news and social media for coverage that took place in 2021.

This year’s event was held on June 17 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

The Best Column award went to LIBN Associate Publisher and Editor Joe Dowd for his piece, “Unmasked in New York; Journeying Back to the Ballpark,” which ran on July 1.

The Housing Feature award went to David Winzelberg for his article “Hamptons for All?” The story ran on May 13.  In addition, the Public Policy Feature award went to Winzelberg for his article “Opt-Out Fallout,” which ran Dec. 10.

The Public Service Feature award went to Adina Genn for her article, “The Resources You Need.” The story ran on Sept. 17.  In addition, the Pandemic Recovery News award went to Genn for “Permanent Pivot,” for a story that ran on July 30.

“We are incredibly proud of the Long Island Business News team for taking home multiple first-place awards at the Fair Media Council Folio Awards this year,” said LIBN Associate Publisher Jenna Natale. “Congratulations to David Winzelberg, Adina Genn and Joe Dowd, and to all the industry honorees. Your work keeps the community strong and informed.”

Natale pointed out that the “Fair Media Council is an important resource for media, public relations and news consumers everywhere. I’m grateful for their work in our community and admire the emphasis they put on quality content as well as news judgment.”

The judging panel for the Folio Awards represents journalists, communication professionals as well as community leaders, all of whom have a demonstrated commitment to the communities they serve. Select invitations are sent to judges for the awards program each year.
