ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Lake George Polar Plunge benefitting Special Olympics NY is November 22nd! The effort is already well underway to make the Capital Region’s biggest fundraiser for Special Olympics NY bigger and better than ever.
New this year, organizers are launching a high school polar plunge video contest, encouraging greater participation from the high school students who participate in Unified Sports. Unified Sports is an inclusive Special Olympics NY program, that brings together individuals with and without intellectual disabilities on the same sports teams for training and competition.
The winner of the best high school Polar Plunge video will be announced right here on NEWS10ABC with a clip shown, on-air, of the winning video. Chris Hughes, Special Olympics NY Development and Impact Director and 17 year old, Special Olympics NY gymnast and USA Games gold medalist, Cayleigh Moorehead, joined us in the studio to talk about the contest and taking the plunge for this worthy cause!
