This week we speak to Chase about the soup that is employment law and cannabis in the USA.

Chase’s Bio

Almost every case I handle includes complexities or nuances, often of first impression. I thrive on analyzing something new and incorporating what I learn into my daily practice. I’ve built my practice around identifying issues that might come into play down the line so that the client is fully aware of all risks.

Charles “Chase” Stoecker is a versatile attorney who supports clients nationwide with legal solutions including employment counsel and commercial and financial services litigation. In his employment practice, Chase drafts and advises on documentation such as employee handbooks, compensation, and non-compete agreements. He litigates wage and hour claims and other matters brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as well as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

In his broad commercial litigation practice, Chase works with clients in a wide variety of business disputes, from breach of contract actions to property management and premises liability, and a myriad of topics in between. He also represents financial institutions in contested mortgage foreclosure actions (both commercial and residential) and defends actions involving consumer protection statutes such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). With a practice spanning state and federal court, Chase’s experience extends to the trial court and appellate court levels as well as class-action defense.

Chase’s practice also includes counseling and representing cannabis and cannabis ancillary companies. His employment and financial services background provides him with a deep background and thorough understanding of the issues facing the cannabis industry. Chase’s cannabis clients include staffing companies, payment processors, insurance companies, farm equipment manufacturers, transportation companies, and grow licensees. In addition to his legal work in this space, Chase has conducted several cannabis presentations throughout the country and he has published multiple articles in various publications. He has become one of the foremost thought leaders on cannabis issues in the business marketplace. As Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Cannabis Law and Policy Committee, he works to move forward and institutionalize smart policies at all levels.
