Juvenile suspect detained in Butte County shooting investigation

(FOX40.COM) — Deputies from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting near Concow, California, on September 6.

The BCSO said it happened at a remote swimming area off Big Bend Road, where a juvenile suspect allegedly brandished and discharged a firearm during an altercation.

The juvenile reportedly pointed the weapon at several people and fired multiple shots, according to witnesses.

Physical evidence and video surveillance collected during the investigation helped identify the suspect.

On September 8, it was confirmed that the juvenile suspect was attending a school within the Paradise Police Department’s jurisdiction. BCSO, along with PPD, detained the suspect.

The juvenile is being charged with assault with a firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm and criminal threat and was booked into Butte County Juvenile Hall.

According to the BCSO, deputies and detectives executed a search warrant at the juvenile’s residence in Chico that same evening.
