U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who two weeks ago scolded the leaker of the draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, appears to be recovering just fine from that “grave betrayal” by basking in applause at black-tie events.

The event was the Federalist Society’s 40th-anniversary celebration, according to the Associated Press. Alito attended along with Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch.

The standing ovation and applause for Alito came as another speaker at the party reportedly commended him for the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that helped overturn Roe and strip women and people who can become pregnant of their bodily autonomy.

Though the Federalist Society says it is nonpartisan. it is a champion of libertarian and right-wing lawfare and has exponentially helped shape the federal judiciary.

“Boy is your work needed today,” Alito said to guests at the elite gathering on Thursday.

While Alito and other justices enjoy self-congratulatory sips of champagne, the decision to overturn Roe has upended lives and increasingly hangs others in a delicate balance. Denied access to abortion has pushed women into grotesque scenarios, including bleeding out for 10 days after an incomplete miscarriage.

Election Night 2022 was full of surprises—mostly for people pushing the last couple months of traditional media narrative of a “red tsunami.” The problem is that Americans are not super into the GOP. Markos and Kerry have been saying the media narrative was wrong for months, and on Tuesday, Daily Kos and The Brief team was validated.
