FOXBOROUGH — After losing their 13 consecutive games in the series, the Jets traveled to Gillette Stadium looking for their first win in the building since the 2010 playoffs.

Gang Green also was looking for its first win against New England since 2015.

In a low-scoring game, the Patriots extended their winning streak.

The Patriots (6-4) defeated the Jets (6-4) 10-3 in a defensive battle on a sunny, cold, 37-degree day at Gillette Stadium with wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour.

With five seconds in the game, Marcus Jones scored a 84-yard punt return touchdown to win the game.

The two teams combined to punt 17 times in the game, as Patriot fans booed most of the afternoon because of the lack of offense.

Two weeks after his stand-out performance against the Bills, where he finished with no interceptions and completed 72% of his passes, Zach Wilson couldn’t duplicate his previous success against New England.

He completed 9 of 22 passes for 77 yards. He also rushed for 26 yards.

Wilson came into the day 0-3 in his three starts against the Patriots. Three weeks ago, Wilson had his worst outing of the season when he threw three interceptions, which translated into 10 Patriots points. That led to New England winning 22-17 at MetLife Stadium.

Following that game, Wilson was visibly upset with his play. He was also heavily criticized by local and national media. What also didn’t help was the Jets couldn’t run the ball effectively like they did against the Bills.

Gang Green had just 59 yards rushing and Wilson was their leading rusher.

After two punts apiece by both teams, the Patriots got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter Damien Harris’ 22-yard run and Kendrick Bourne’s eight-yard reception set up a 22-yard field goal by Nick Folk, which made the score 3-0.

Wilson had his first completion in the second quarter, as he was 0-4 to start the game.

After New England got points, Gang Green responded on its next drive. Denzel Mims came up with a speculator 34-yard catch on 3rd and 7, which quieted Patriot fans. After not converting on their next third down, Greg Zuerlein’s 45-yard field goal tied the game.

New England tried to counter the Jets score by quickly moving the ball down the field. Jonnu Smith’s 26-yard reception got the ball to the Jets’ yard line. But the Patriots could not take the lead as Folk’s 44-yard field goal was no good.

The score was 3-3 at halftime.

The Jets got the ball to begin the second half, but they went three and out. New England received the ball after a punt, but it was unable to take the lead following a 43-yard field goal miss by Folk.

Neither team scored in the third quarter as they combined to have 110 yards of total offense.

Late in the fourth quarter, still tied at 3-3, the Jets stopped the Patriots on 3rd and 1 as Quinnen Williams got a hold of Rhamondre Stevenson in the backfield and brought him down for a two-yard loss. That forced the Patriots to punt with two minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Jets got the ball back and it looked like they were set to punt again, but a holding call by Jonathan Jones gave them a new set of downs. But the team had to punt with less than 30 seconds to go. That’s when Jones’ 84-yard punt return won the game for New England.

Up next, the Jets will return home to play the Chicago Bears next Sunday. The Patriots will have a short week as they will travel to Minneapolis to play the Vikings on Thanksgiving.
