Just two weeks after the release of her ‘Hang Around’ music video, Izzy Mahoubi is back and better than ever, putting her own spin on Billie Eilish’s ‘bury a friend.’ Izzy Mahoubi and Billie Eilish??? What more could you want?
We are introduced to another side of the rising star’s eclectic sound and impressive range, and we believe we are only scratching the surface of this insanely talented singer. We will continue to shout from the rooftops that Izzy Mahoubi is one to watch and most definitely a musical force to be reckoned with.
‘bury a friend’
Izzy was originally inspired by how Billie completely shifted from her previous sound and what was expected next from her. From tracks like ‘ocean eyes,’ ‘idontwannabeyouanymore,’ and ‘come out and play,’ to her entire BURY A FRIEND album, she showed her audience just how versatile she is. Izzy took this on board with her 360 shift from a folky sound with ‘Hang Around,’ to her alt-rock cover of ‘bury a friend.’
“Recording it with a full band did this song justice as it turned into an alt rock anthem that my friends and I scream in the car. This song has been a consistent influence to me as an artist as it encourages me to push the limits of the songs I write and how I sing them.”

Izzy’s vocals in this song are truly insane. Her belts are scratching a part of our brains that are saved for Izzy and Izzy only. Seeing artists experiment with their sound and being able to experience different aspects of their talent is incredibly refreshing. It’s obvious that Izzy is confident in herself as an artist which lets her freely explore these areas of her voice.
