Israel’s military said it launched a barrage against Hezbollah targets deep in southern Lebanon on Tuesday. Tensions are rising across the region amid a spate of military activity, including Israel’s continued strikes in Gaza and tit-for-tat exchanges with Hezbollah; a strike on a Maltese-flagged vessel by Yemen’s Houthis, who are attacking ships in the Red Sea in support of Gaza; a new round of U.S. strikes on what officials said were Houthi missile sites in Yemen; and strikes by Iran on what it said was an Israeli intelligence site in Iraq and a militant site in Pakistan, to which both countries immediately objected.
