Regardless of how you personally feel about Walmart, there’s no denying how convenient the chain can be. Need to grab something for the yard? Walmart’s got it. Looking for some quality cookware to take to a housewarming party? They’ve got that, too. And you can bet it’s all for a decent price.

With the winter holidays approaching, you may find yourself hitting the stores to pick up some last-minute gifts. And if you do, you’ll probably wonder the following: Is Walmart open on Christmas Day?

Unfortunately for those who forget the batteries for the newly gifted electronics or anyone looking to replace their hand mixer in a hurry for Christmas dessert, Walmart will be closed on Christmas Day. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Historically, Walmart has been known to close their doors on the holiday and, since 2020, has even ceased operation on Thanksgiving Day too.

Not to fret about that, though, because those who need to grab a few quick items from their neighborhood Walmart will have the opportunity to stop by on Christmas Eve (Saturday, December 24), as most most locations will be open until 8 p.m. The chain will, however, resume its regular business hours on Monday, December 26. As always, of course, be sure to check with your local store for the most up-to-date information on holiday hours.

Trying to avoid shopping last-minute for the food-lover in your life? These 34 little luxuries are perfect to divvy out this year.
