(WTVO) — Last month was a record breaker for recreational marijuana sales in Illinois.

The state’s regulating department said that July’s sales topped $140 million, the highest of this year and the second highest monthly total since marijuana was made legal in the state.

Most of that was bought by residents, but nearly $36 million was spent by out of state visitors. Most of those came from Wisconsin.
