I recently made a cross-country move from Los Angeles to NYC. Though I’ve lived in New York before and always make of point of visiting throughout the year, the city is constantly changing. Every corner has new restaurants and coffee shops popping up. There are always new art exhibitions and buzzy neighborhoods to visit. And the looks on the streets and among the fashion crowd are constantly in flux.

As I’m getting settled in NYC, I’ve started thinking about the pieces my wardrobe is missing. Not only am I missing seasonal fall/winter pieces that I didn’t need in L.A., but I’ve also noticed other items that are glaringly absent in my NYC wardrobe that I’ll need for my new lifestyle. A big everyday tote that can carry my laptop to the office and events is at the top of my list. Flats are another practical piece I need to ramp up my wardrobe, but they’re also decidedly of the moment. The fashion set is gravitating toward everything from simple ballerinas to mesh styles. Ahead, see the NYC wardrobe shopping finds I have on my list right now.
