Nigel, a powerful storm system located in the middle of the Atlantic, developed into a Category 1 hurricane Monday morning with 80-mph maximum sustained winds. Nigel is forecast to strengthen into a Category 3 major hurricane by Tuesday, according to the National Hurricane Center. There are no coastal or land warnings in effect as Nigel is expected to remain out at sea.
