Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has reached a settlement in a child support case with the mother of a child he fathered in Arkansas in 2018.

The resolution comes shortly after Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to federal tax offenses earlier this month, as he also faces a separate felony gun possession charge that’s yet to be resolved.

The exact financial details of the child support settlement were not disclosed, though Biden had been seeking a reduction in his monthly payment of $20,000. He did, however, agree to provide an unspecified number of his paintings to the child, which can either be kept or sold.

Meanwhile, the child’s mother, 32-year-old Lunden Roberts, withdrew her request for her daughter to have Biden’s last name.

The two parties also agreed to discuss the establishment of a college education fund for the child within the following five years.

Before the agreement was reached, Biden had been facing a July trial date against Roberts, who first sued him for paternity and child support in 2019. She later claimed he hadn’t been transparent in his financial disclosures and pushed for him to be found in contempt of court.

Biden is still expected to appear in federal court next month to formally enter a plea agreement on his tax and gun charges, which are unlikely to result in any jail time.

Last week, the agreement was made public which showed he will plead guilty to the misdemeanor tax offenses, while avoiding full prosecution on the separate gun charge.
