HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS have added title-winning experience to their squad with the signing of Welsh international Georgia Cussons from Sheffield Eagles.
Under her maiden name Taylor, she helped York Valkyrie win back-to-back Super League crowns, making ten appearances for the club in the 2023 campaign and seven the following year.
Cussons, who can play in the outside backs or as a back-rower, has spent the past season as captain of Championship side Sheffield, while adding two more Wales caps for a tally of seven.
“It’s great to have Georgia as part of the squad,” said new Huddersfield head coach Nathan Graham.
“She brings a lot of experience and an excellent work ethic which will be good for the group.
“I’m looking forward to seeing her compete in training and build towards the 2026 season.”
Cussons hopes to push the Giants – who finished fifth in Super League last season – forward as well as state her claim to a place in the Wales squad for next year’s World Cup in Australia.
“I’ve joined Huddersfield because I feel it’s the right step for me at this stage of my career, particularly with the World Cup ahead,” said the 29-year-old.
“I wanted to challenge myself back in a Super League environment and push my standards on and off the field.
“After a lot of thought, I felt this was an opportunity I needed to explore if I’m going to be the best version of myself as a player.
“My aim is to continue developing as a player, becoming fitter, stronger and more consistent, and putting myself in the best possible position for international selection.
“I want to work hard, earn my place and contribute positively to the Huddersfield being a competitive and successful team.”
