PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland protesters continue to come up with unique ways to demonstrate outside the ICE facility.
First it was inflatable costumes, then dance parties and roller skaters. But on Sunday, a man on a horse showed up to register displeasure with the Trump Administration and its immigration policies.
The horseback rider showed up mid-afternoon Sunday. This equine protest comes one day after about 40,000 people marched in downtown Portland as part of the nationwide “No Kings” rally.
In recent weeks, the way Portlanders have decided to protest outside the ICE facility has garnered global attention. More and more protesters at the ICE facility in Portland have been wearing costumes — the frog, a dinosaur, even Barney.
Operation Inflation is a crowd-funded group purchasing inflatable costumes and giving them away for free. Jordy Johnson with Operation Inflation told KOIN 6 News they “might be expanding out to other cities as well and trying to really push this as hard as we can.”
The idea, at least, caught on as marchers in cities around the world wore inflatable costumes on Saturday.
KOIN 6 News has a crew at the scene and will have more information as it develops.
