Horror as dog lunges at terrified girl, 7, who screams ‘I’m going to die’

THIS is the terrifying moment a stray dog lunges at a little girl walking with her mum – leaving her fearing for her life.

Nadia Taoube and her seven-year-old daughter were walking home from the shop in Sydney, Australia, when the aggressive looking canine crossed their path.

Footage shows the frightened girl running away from the dog before she is pinned down to the ground.  

“I’m going to die, I’m going to die,” the petrified girl is heard screaming.

Her desperate mother then tries to intervene by shooing and pulling the dog away.

But her efforts were to no avail.

Fortunately, nearby brothers Mohamed and Billy Zahr heard the commotion outside and quickly rushed to scene.

“It was just going at her … she was screaming and crying,” Billy told Seven News.

“I even ran away from it … I came out to be a hero and ended up being the victim.”

Mohamed added: “As soon as I started running I could hear the screaming … she looked so terrified.”

Eventually, one of the men was able to pull the dog away by grabbing its ear before the pooch fled to a nearby park.

The girl’s parents later confirmed their daughter escaped with minor scratches but remains shaken by the incident.

They say they now wants answers as to why the dog was roaming the streets and have asked the owner to come forward.

According to the RSPCA, the majority of dogs using aggression are doing so because they are frightened.

They may rush towards you and then retreat in an attempt to get you to move away as this makes you less threatening.

Staying calm, and moving away slowly can be enough to diffuse the situation.

There is no single solution to dealing with a dog attack as few people have the experience to know what to do.

People can stay safe by learning to recognise the signs of aggression and how to behave when an unfamiliar dog approaches.
