One teen was found in a ditch near the freeway on the ramp near North 85th Street and I-5. The second teen was found about half a mile away.
SEATTLE — The Washington State Patrol (WSP) said Sunday the deaths of two 16-year-old boys found shot to death along Interstate 5 in Seattle on Thursday night and early Friday morning are connected.
Trooper Rick Johnson said Sunday the WSP determined the deaths were related after interviewing the victim’s families.
The WSP received a call from a driver who said they saw a person in a northbound lane of the freeway on Thursday, according to Johnson. Troopers arrived and found the boy had gunshot wounds and had no reason to believe the teen was struck by a car.
Around 8 a.m. the following morning on Friday, the WSP received another call about a body in a ditch along I-5, which was near the same area where the first teenager was found hours before. Troopers are working to determine if the second teenager, who had gunshot wounds, was shot on the freeway or elsewhere.
The 16-year-old boys died as a result of their gunshot wounds, according to investigators. One teen was found in a ditch near the freeway on the ramp near North 85th Street and I-5, and the second teen was found approximately half a mile away.
