Homicide victim ID'd after body parts found in Tualatin River in August

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After multiple body parts were found in the Tualatin River in August, local authorities are identifying the man they say was the victim of a homicide.

The victim, 34-year-old Ezequiel Avila-Ruiz, was known to camp in multiple areas, including around Rood Bridge Park, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Avila-Ruiz was last seen on July 31 near SE Baseline St and South First Ave in Hillsboro at approximately 5:40 p.m. Authorities say they want to speak to anyone who has information about him.

Part of his remains were first found by a kayaker on Aug. 8. A second body part was located the following day, one mile down the river.

“This is really uncommon. Unsettling, concerning are other terms I would use to describe this incident,” said the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer David Huey.
