A FURIOUS homeowner fired a flamethrower to scare off pranksters who wanted to cover his home in loo roll, cops say.

Five schoolboys were allegedly forced out of their car by three men – including one wielding the fiery device – who ordered them to kneel on the ground.

According to cops, the youngsters from Baraboo High School in Wisconsin, US, were riding in Jeep when they were passed by the trio.

It is alleged one of the men, named by police as John A Kolar, shot a flamethrower in the air – leaving the boys terrified.

They reached a dead end and turned the car around, but as they made their way back down the street, Kolar set off the device again, police say.

The two other men, William D. Bowden and James J Langkemp, then are reported to have stepped in front of the car and told them to stop.

They then allegedly pulled the boys out of the car and told them to kneel.

One of the boys told local media: “We just turned around the corner on the street and the dude was there with like a flamethrower and then we all kind of panicked.”

Kolar then stood over the youngster with the flamethrower, which had “two-foot” long flames coming out of it while the other two blokes performed a “citizen’s arrest”, it is alleged.

A police report said the students “described the flame to be quite large and that it lit up half of the road.”

In a clip, Kolar and Bowden could be heard shouting “shut the f***ing engine off now” and “put the f***ing keys where he told you to put them mother-f***er”.

Kolar told cops there had been a number of “malicious activities” in the neighbourhood in the days leading up to the incident on October 5.

When police asked Kolar why he brandished a flamethrower, he “hesitated and said he did not know”.

Baraboo Police Department said the three men were arrested on charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct and false imprisonment.

Bowden and Langkemp have been released with the charges dropped.

But Kolar has been charged with disorderly conduct and is due in court on November 2.
